On Nov. 17, the First Presbyterian Church congregation will have its first worship service in its newly renovated sanctuary and they are inviting the public to the service.

The restoration began in late May and they have made several updates to the church including a new roof, fixing the steeple, restoring the floors to the original pine surface and fixing issues with water damage.

While the restoration has been going on, the congregation has met in the fellowship hall, but on Nov. 17, they will all reconvene in the sanctuary for the first time.

At 2 p.m., the church will dedicate a historical marker and hold a brief service of dedication and thanksgiving. A light reception will follow the afternoon service. Worship is at 11 a.m.

The First Presbyterian Church was built in 1906, for $10,000, according to the “History of First Presbyterian Church.”
