Both South Alabama Regional Airport Executive Director Jed Blackwell and Covington County Economic Development Director Rick Clifton had good things to report about DynCorp on Monday.

They reported that DynCorp had 44 full-time employees, 41 of which are from Covington County.

The company plans to add 10 new employees next month.

Blackwell said they just finished work on a TH-57. Plans are for the aircraft to leave SARA on Wednesday.

“They have three coming in December and that will give them 10,” he said. “That’s the most we’ve had in the hangar at one time.”

Blackwell said that DynCorp was utilizing the Alabama Aviation College to get skilled workers.

The Alabama Aviation College has a campus on the SARA property.

Clifton said the company was initially concerned about having skilled labor for their jobs.

They have been employing new graduates, who are being taught and groomed by experienced supervisors.

The goal is to employ 75 people.
