The local Run for God group cashed in on a special invitation recently to utilize the new cross country trail at the Covington County Track Complex.

Jennifer O’Neal of the group said that Covington County Schools Superintendent Shannon Driver extended a special invitation to the group to run or walk the trail.

On Saturday, the group participated in a 20-minute run, which is part of their lesson for Class 10, week eight.

“In addition, it was a special day in that our Opp Run for God family joined us for the workout,” she said. “This is one of the top 5 such running facilities in Alabama, right in our own back yard. Can’t say enough about how nice the trail is – very wide and in very good shape. Mr. Driver stressed to us that the trail is open to the public for us. They are encouraging us all to have our 5K fundraisers there when not in use for track/XC meets.”
