It’s a local tradition, and this year is no different, St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, partnering with other churches, supporters and volunteers, will again provide a free meal to anyone who needs it or is alone this Thanksgiving Day, Thurs., Nov. 28.

Volunteers were busy working Tuesday morning to prepare for the Thanksgiving crowd which usually runs about 500.

The holiday dinners served at Thanksgiving and Christmas were originally called ACORN dinners and organized by Josephine Mosdell. After her death, they were renamed Jo’s Community Dinners in her honor. As awareness of the dinner has grown, so has the number of meals.

  Those who need meals may dine-in, carry out or have the food delivered to them. The only thing they ask is that those who need the food delivered call by today.

Meals will be served from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. in the Parish Hall, located at 1307 E. Three Notch Stre..

Volunteers are also welcome to help on Thursday. All one needs to do is just show up.
