JOHN DAVID “J.D.” HERRING

John David (JD) Herring, 63, passed away November 26, 2019 after a valiant battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ida Geretha Budd, father, Gordon Ellis Herring; brother, Joe Ben Herring; grandson, Parker Thomas Taylor. He is survived by his wife, Betsy Smith Herring; son, John Rivers Herring (Tara); daughter, Brooke Taylor (Wayne); grandchildren, Ashleigh Taylor, Addison Taylor, Jordan Taylor, Laney Nichols, Nolee Nichols; sisters, Rhonda Kelley (Steve) and Nancy Herring; niece, Lindsay June Herring.

JD was a vivacious and loving man. He had a very competitive spirit, which you knew if you met him on a billiard table. He was thrilled to be able to share his knowledge of the game and life with those interested in learning. When you met JD, more than likely he would know more of your family history than you did. He was blessed with an enormous memory and grand storytelling abilities.  He will be greatly missed, as he was greatly loved.  A visitation for John will be Sunday, December 1, 2019, at Leak Memory Chapel from 4-6 pm with a graveside service to take place Monday, December 2, 2019 at 2 p.m. at the River Falls Cemetery.

FANNIE LOUISE MCVAY

Mrs. Fannie Louise McVay, 79, of Andalusia, passed away Thu., Nov. 28, 2019, at Andalusia Hospital.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Sun., Dec. 1, from Foreman Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Gary Holloway officiating the service. The interment will follow Zion Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 p.m., until 8 p.m., Saturday at Foreman Funeral Home.

She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Frankie and Lisa McVay, Sandie and Sharon McVay, of Andalusia; nine grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren; five brothers and three sisters, along with many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Winston Morgan McVay.

Pallbearers will be Donald Dozier, Tad Moore, Chris Threatt, Randy Davis, Tommy Lawson, and Tim Godwin.

The family will accept flowers or memorials may be made to the Gideon’s in memory of Mrs. McVay.

BROCK DALTON DORMAN

Brock Dalton Dorman, 26, of Nashville, Tenn., formerly of Newnan, Ga., and Andalusia, died unexpectedly in a vehicle accident Wed., Nov. 27, 2019.

A public viewing will be held on Mon., Dec. 2, 2019, from 6 p.m., until 8 p.m., at McKoon Funeral Home in Newnan, Ga. Funeral services will be held on Wed., Dec. 4, 2019, at 2:30 p.m., at First Baptist Church of Andalusia. A visitation will be held one hour prior to services and First Baptist Church.  Interment will follow at Andalusia Memorial Cemetery with Foreman Brown-Service Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include his parents, Kenneth Dorman of Newnan, GA; Karen McDaniel of Navarre, FL and Jenafer Dorman of Newnan, GA; his siblings, Keri Lynn Waller of Level Plains, AL, Haley Dorman of Pensacola, FL, Haydn Cone of Nashville, TN, Eric Dorman of Andalusia, AL, Brooklyn Dorman of Newnan, GA, London Dorman of Newnan, GA, and Jeremy Landers of Hogansville, GA; grandparents, Earl and Genia Dorman of Andalusia, AL, Winford and Elaine Johnson of Samson, AL, Robert and Susie McDaniel of Andalusia, AL, Ronnie and Sandra Crumpton of Newnan, GA; one great grandmother, Nellie Ruth Jowers of Opp, AL; along with numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Pallbearers will be Haydn Cone, Eric Dorman, Jacob Herbert, Robert Sieben, and Thomas Cook.
