The Opp and Elba Fire Departments fought a residential structure fire in Coffee County on Wednesday morning.

Opp Fire Chief Corey Spurlin said the fire was located on Coffee County 422, located off of Hwy. 84.

“Heavy smoke was showing on arrival and the fire was quickly brought under control, thanks to the actions of two neighbors who fought the fire with a garden hose before our arrival and helped contain the fire to one-bedroom,” he said. “One pet was rescued from inside the residence and returned to the owner.”

Spurlin said no injuries were reported.
