Harry Tate “Ted” Short of Auburn, Ala., (formerly of Andalusia,) born on Oct. 31, 1941, passed away peacefully on Dec. 31, 2019.

Ted’s family was his greatest joy.  His strength and character are the foundation of his family. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Jeanette, for the past 56 years.  His adoration for her was evident to everyone who knew them.

Ted grew up in Athens, Ga., then served four years active duty in the United States Marine Corps. He started his family in Florida, eventually moving to Andalusia, AL where he lived for 40 years. He and his wife moved to Auburn a year ago.

Ted was predeceased by his Mother, Janette Mathews Short and his father, Woodrow W. Short.

Ted is survived by his loving wife, Mary Jeanette Strickland Short.  He  is also survived by his son, Chris Short (Tina) of Villa Rica, GA; Eric Short (Tonya) of Auburn, AL. He had six grandchildren: Trey Short (Nicole) of Suwanee, GA; Cody Short of Los Angeles, CA; Haley Short of Villa Rica, GA; Spencer Short of Auburn, AL; Trevor Short of Auburn, AL; Jordis Short of Auburn, AL. He is also survived by his sister, Rita Patton (Bill) of Birmingham, AL.

A private service celebrating his life, officiated by Bill Patton, was held at his final resting place in Athens, GA.
