HOLLY E. RODRIGUEZ

Mrs. Holly E. Rodriguez, age 67, of Opp, (formerly of California) passed away peacefully surrounded by family Wed., Feb. 12, 2020, at Baptist South Hospital in Montgomery, Ala.

Mrs. Rodriguez is survived by her husband, Frank J. Rodriguez; son, Dan Chavis; Goddaughter, Angel Patterson and James; brother, George Pitts and Nancy; sister, Rene Taylor, and Richard and Debbie Olson and Kris; brother-in-law, Ricky Gray; grandchildren, Eleni Gibson, Alexander Gibson, Reyne Gibson, Anthony Estis and Savannah Grace Patterson; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces & great-nephews; her special angel, Ampie Adams; and special friends, Eileen and David Mendez. She was preceded in death by her parents, Carol Moore Pitts and James Earl Pitts; and sister, Lisa Gray.

Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 11 a.m., Mon., Feb. 17, 2020, at Christ The King Catholic Church with burial following in Stone Lake Gardens. Visitation will be held Sunday evening from 6 p.m., until 8 p.m., at Wyatt Funeral Home and 30 minutes prior to the service at the church. Father Bieu Nguyen will be officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Dan Chavis, Kristina Adams, James Espinoza Adams, Oscar Rojas, Carolynne Estis, Catherine Rider, Daniel Estis and David Estis.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the ALS Association (www.alsa.org), Multiple Sclerosis Association of America (www.mymsaa.org) or St. Catherine Altar Society.

 

TRAVIS PATRICK MAHONE

Mr. Travis Patrick Mahone, 73, of the Carolina community, passed away Sun., Feb. 16, 2020 at his residence.

Pat was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.  He was a man of many talents and interests including carpentry, bowl turning, and stainglassing.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Wed., Feb. 19, from Foreman Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Brannon Peacock officiating the service.  The interment will follow in Andalusia Memorial Cemetery.  Visitation will begin at 1 p.m., Wednesday at Foreman Funeral Home.

Survivors include his wife, Charlotte Mahone; one daughter, Alanna Mahone and her husband, Joe Wurzer of Atlanta, GA; a grandson, Luka Wurzer of Atlanta, GA; one sister, Molly Brooms of Mathews, AL and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Travis Patrick Mahone.

LINDA STOKES HINSON

Linda was born on July 25, 1951 in Andalusia, Alabama to Louise and M.V. Stokes, Jr.  She graduated from Andalusia High School and was active in the Junior Civitan Club and Central Church of Christ.  Linda graduated from Troy State University with a Bachelor of Science in 1982.  She also attended Auburn University at Montgomery in the Registered Nursing Program.

Linda served in the U.S. Army as the first female assigned to a MAST crash rescue team at Ft. Rucker, Alabama and she was a Drill Sergeant at Ft. McClellan, Alabama. She is recognized in a display at the Army Aviation Museum and the Lyster Army Health Clinic at Ft. Rucker. Linda completed advanced paramedic training at University of Alabama at Birmingham. After leaving active duty, Linda had assignments with the Army National Guard and the Air Force Reserves.  She completed her military career at the 85th Training Division, Chicago, IL and retired as a Staff Sergeant.

Linda began her civil service career at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, Alabama. She also worked at O’Hare Army Air Reserve Station in Illinois and Charleston Air Force Base, South Carolina.  Linda was selected as a part of the establishment of the Army Reserve Command in Atlanta, Georgia, and this command later moved to Ft. McPherson, Georgia.  While at the Reserve Command, Linda held multiple positions, most notably in the Emergency Operations Center during Operation Desert Shield/Storm.  She retired from civil service in 2008.

Linda was a staunch supporter of the Troy State and Alabama football programs.  A dedicated Republican, Linda followed politics with keen interest.  A loving wife, mother and friend, whose compassion was endless.

Funeral services will be at 11 AM Tuesday February 18th from Foreman Funeral Home Chapel with interment in Andalusia Memorial Cemetery where military honors will be conducted.  Visitation will begin at 9:30 AM Tuesday at Foreman Funeral Home.

Linda is preceded by her parents, and her brother Mathew Van Buren Stokes, III.  Her surviving spouse, L. David Hinson and her son Brandon M. Hinson of Augusta, Georgia.  Linda’s extended family are Victoria and Dan Mackey of Indian Trail, NC and nieces Shannon Stanley, Lorna & Lindsay Stokes, and grand-niece Riley Stanley.

 

MARJORIE MERRELL STRINGFELLOW

Mrs. Marjorie Merrell Stringfellow, age 89, of Andalusia, passed away on Friday, February 14, 2020 at the Opp Nursing Home.

Funeral services will be held Monday, February 17th at 2 p.m., at Foreman Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Bill Boles officiating and interment will follow at Andalusia Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services.

Marjorie enjoyed all things homemaking, from planting bulbs in her beautiful garden to making her famous Boston cream pie. She had a deep love for all things Auburn and was sure to always be near the TV on Saturdays to watch the tigers play. She was also an expert seamstress, sewing many of her own suits for work, outfits for her son and granddaughters, and even wedding dresses. Marjorie began her career in finance at the Office of the Registrar of Auburn University, she then moved into banking where she was the Secretary for the President of Talladega National Bank.  Most of her tenure, 26 years, was spent at Taylor Parts and TPS of Andalusia.

She is survived by her son Billy Stringfellow of Cypress, Texas; daughter in law Lesa Stringfellow of Andalusia, Alabama; two granddaughters, Claire Walters (Russ) and Emily Stringfellow of Andalusia, Alabama; and two great granddaughters, Amelia Charles Walters and Jane Allen Walters. She is preceded in death by her parents Mr. and Mrs. Thomas E. Merrell and her brother Tommy Merrell.

Pallbearers will be Russ Walters, Jimmy Grimes, Lee Cagle and Dewayne Foshee.

DIANE HUGGHINS RUSSELL

Mrs. Diane Hugghins Russell, 73, of Andalusia, passed away Mon., Feb. 17, 2020 at her residence.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Wed., Feb. 19, from Foreman Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Steve Carroll officiating the service.  Visitation will begin at 10 a.m., Wednesday.

Mrs. Russell was born November 11, 1946 to Lemuel and Katie Sellers Hugghins.  She graduated from McKenzie High School and completed her Bachelor’s Degree at Troy.  She was the 8th grade Math teacher at Andalusia Middle School.  She was also a member of Sovereign Grace Baptist Church and a beloved wife, mother, and nana.

She is survived by her husband, Tracey Russell of Andalusia; her daughter and son-in-law, Ginny and Mike Patton; one son and daughter-in-law, Curtis and Heather Russell; her grandchildren, Russell Price, Cameron Russell, Chris Kilpatrick, Eric Kilpatrick, three great grandchildren, Addison, Ellie, Kyla Kilpatrick; her mother, Katie Hugghins of Georgiana; and sister, Barbara Scott of McKenzie.

She is preceded in death by her father, Lemuel Hugghins.
