Nora Hobbie passed away peacefully on June 5, 2020 at the age of 92. The family will hold a private graveside service. Foreman Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

She was born on August 29, 1927 to Alfred and Lola Horton. Nora grew up in Alabama attending Red Level High School where she graduated Valedictorian of her class. She then attended Troy State University, receiving a Bachelors in Education and later the University of Alabama for a Masters in English Education. While at Troy State she met and married Eugene Hobbie. Together they traveled extensively, living in Okinawa, Japan, the Panama Canal Zone and numerous locations stateside as Gene pursued his military career.

Nora was an astute business woman and gifted teacher. She felt called to teaching at an early age and taught in numerous posts around the world as well as Florida State University, Lively Vocational Technical School and Rickards High School in Tallahassee, Florida.

Nora lived a quiet life of service to others through personal outreach to those she knew were in need of a kind word or material help. She was quick to offer comfort, companionship and encouragement to all.

Besides time spent with her family and many friends, Nora had a passion for her adopted home at Seagrove, Beach Florida, for bible study, cooking, gardening and depression glass. She was a devoted and adoring mother and grandmother. She will be greatly missed by all those who had the good fortune to know her.

Nora was preceded in death by her son, Gary Hobbie.

She is survived by her daughter Cindy Hobbie Bullwinkel (Andy), four granddaughters, Amanda Hobbie, Beth Hobbie, Andrea Chambers (Mark), and Katie Trice (Tyler) one grandson, Drew Bullwinkel, and great granddaughter Madison Jerles. Nora also wanted to give special recognition to Four Seasons Hospice, the community and staff of College Walk and her special angels, Mary Brown and Lonnie Frady.
