The Andalusia Farmer’s Market officially opened back up for business last Saturday.

Whit Carroll is excited to see normalcy after the recent pandemic.

“We’re happy to be able to open it again. We opened a lot later than other farmer’s

markets, but we are trying to be safe,” Carroll said.

The market is filled with various items ranging from plants to homemade goods. “We have a mixture of produce, crafts, plants, vegetables, honey, homemade items, baked goods,

and jelly,” Carroll said.

The first weekend that the market opened back up was slow but good, according to

Carroll. “The first weekend back was a little slow, but we are still getting the word out through

WAAO, facebook, and word of mouth so far,” Carroll said.

Carroll is hopeful that more community members will stop by once they hear that they

are back in business. “This first weekend was not a bad weekend,” Carroll said. “We are still

getting everything pieced together.”

The city is hoping for more vendors as well as customers to join the farmer’s market.

“We are hoping more people will hear about the market and we will get more vendors and

customers,” Carroll said.

The farmer’s market has moved to the original location instead of at the square. “We

didn’t move for a specific reason,” Carroll said. “We just thought that the farmer’s market would

be better than the square right now considering everything with the virus.”

Carroll encourages everyone to come out and see what the market has to offer. “We

want to invite everyone out,” Carroll said. “We will be here every Wednesday and Saturday.”

The Andalusia Farmer’s Market is located at 256 Historical Central St, Andalusia, AL

36420 and is open every Wednesday and Saturday from 7 a.m. until 12 p.m.
