Grand Hustle Racing is holding a benefit race for a local boy at the Emerald Coast Dragway this weekend. Christopher Johnson is a 4-year old from Andalusia who is battling an incurable brain tumor.

Johnson’s family is struggling to keep up with the travel expenses during the ongoing pandemic according to Amber Rivers of Grand Hustle Racing.

“A large portion of the proceeds and part of the profits from select merchandise sold will be donated to his family who is having to travel back and forth to Memphis for his medical care,” Rivers said.

After learning about Johnson and his family’s story, Rivers wanted to help them. “The travel expenses and lodging during this low unemployment time have really put his family in a bind,” Rivers said. “We at Grand Hustle Racing heard about the boy and decided to do what we could to help.”

The outcome of the event is important to Rivers as she hopes everyone will come out and show their support for Johnson. “The more people we can get through the gate, the more money we can raise for Christopher and his family,” Rivers said.

The benefit will take place at Emerald Coast Dragway in Holt, Florida on June 27.
