She married her husband as a young adult, raised her family in Daytona Beach, FL, then Andalusia, AL where they lived for 40 years. She and her husband moved to Auburn, AL last year.

Jeanette was predeceased by her husband, Harry Tate “Ted” Short; her mother, Mary Elizabeth “Tiny” Howell Strickland; her father, James Cecil Strickland; and her brother, David Sherroll Strickland.
