RUBY FAYE ECHOLS JETER

Mrs. Ruby Faye Echols Jeter, 85, joined the Lord on Monday September 28, 2020.

Funeral services will be held at 11AM Thursday October 1st at Fairmount Baptist Church with Pastor John Bell officiating.  Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery.  Vistation will be from 5:30-7:30 PM Wednesday at Foreman Funeral Home and at the church 30 minutes prior to services.

She is survived by three sisters, Margie Echols, Esther Ramer, and Fannie Lou Brown; one brother, Lee Echols; four sons, Monty Ray Jeter and his wife, Shannon, Dewayne Jeter and his wife, Linda, Chuck Alan Jeter and wife, Amy, and Jeffery Dale Jeter and wife, Grace; eight grandchildren, Kent Lewis, Charles Curtis Jeter, Ashley Beau Jeter and his wife Andi, Cory Dustin Jeter, Kyle Dewayne Jeter and his wife Kaeli, Quinton Cole Jeter, James McLemore Jeter, and Virginia Sabra Jeter; and one great grandchild, Jaida Faith Jeter.  She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Charles Earnest Jeter; her father, James Oscar Echols; her mother, Lula Virginia Oliver Echols; two sisters, Edith Lucille Ramer and Annie Mae Davis; and four brothers, Willie Clyde Echols, James (Bill) Echols, Harry Lavon Echols, and Ronald Dewayne Echols.

Ruby was born November 1, 1934, in Andalusia, the eighth of eleven children.  She married Earnest Jeter in 1952 and spent the next twenty years as a Navy wife, living throughout the United States and Canada.  In 1972, Ruby and Earnest returned to Red Level.  She joined Fairmount Baptist Church where she was an active and faithful member.  In 1991, Ruby became a teacher’s aide at Red Level School, where she was a fixture until she retired fourteen years later to take care of Earnest.  Even then, Mrs. Jeter remained a familiar and beloved face at Red Level School, frequently volunteering and helping wherever and whenever needed.  She truly spent her life as a servant of the Lord, always taking care of everyone.

GORDON HAYES HELMS

Mr. Gordon Hayes Helms, 88, of Andalusia, passed away Monday September 28, 2020 in Pensacola, FL.

Mr. Helms was born July 25, 1932, the son of Olie Helms and Zonie Cockcroft Helms.  He was a lifelong member of Red Oak Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for the congregation.  He was also a member of Red Oak Fire Department and the North Creek Masonic Lodge.

Funeral services will be at 11 AM Wednesday September 30th at Red Oak Baptist Church with Brother Eugene Meadows officiating and Foreman Funeral Home directing.  The interment will follow in Red Oak Cemetery.  Visitation will begin at 10 AM Wednesday at Red Oak Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Martha Curenton Helms; a brother and sister-in-law, Rex and Shirley Helms; his children, Ken Helms and wife Wanda, Lisa Hutto and husband Michael, Lori Fuqua; his grandchildren, Alex Waldhour, Matthew Waldhour, Ashley Waldhour, Judd Fuqua, Logan Fuqua, Tiffany (John) Drain, Danielle (Lee) Jackson, Tyler Hutto; along with 11 great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Olie and Zonie Helms; father and mother-in-law, Earl and Arline Curenton; and son-in-law, Bo Fuqua.

Pallbearers will be Judd Fuqua, Matthew Waldhour, Lee Jackson, Benji Gunter, Sonny Cravey, Scott Curenton, Stuart Curenton, and Michael Hutto.

Honorary pallbearers will be Deacons of Red Oak Baptist Church.

JACOB R. COLEMAN

Mr. Jacob R. Coleman, age 78, of Red Level, Alabama died Friday October 2, 2020 at his residence. Funeral services for Jacob Coleman will be 2:00 Monday at Foreman Brown-Service Funeral Home with Brother Tyree and Reverend David McMillan officiating. Interment will be at Flat Rock Community Cemetery in Evergreen, AL. Mr. Coleman was preceded in death by his parents: Willie L. and Phronie Coleman; wife: Joy P. Coleman; son: Jamie H. Coleman; and brother: Russell M. Coleman. Visitation will be at 1:30 Monday at the funeral home.

Mr. Coleman is survived by his son: Andy Coleman of Red Level, AL, sister: Vernell (J.C.) Padgett of Evergreen, AL, brothers: Robert D. (Micky)Coleman Of Bay Minette, AL, Joseph L. (Santa) Coleman of Atlanta, GA. , Terry E. Coleman of Evergreen, AL, sister-in-law: Ola Mae Coleman, and a very special caretaker: Michelle Browder of Red Level, AL. Pallbearers will be Dwayne Hughes, Will Waddell, Mike Garner, Jatin Patel, Timm McGonegale, and Gebe McGonegale.

CARMEN MARIE SMITH

Miss Carmen Marie Smith, age 63 of Panama City, Fla. and formerly of Andalusia passed away on Saturday, October 3, 2020 in Panama City.  Carmen was born,  September 19, 1957 in Andalusia, the daughter of Ray and Hazel Marie (Gus) Smith.  Carmen graduated from Andalusia High School in 1978.

Carmen is survived by her sister and brother in law, Sharis and Ronnie LeMay of Montgomery, Al. and by her beloved nephew Matthew LeMay.  She was preceded in death by her parents.

Carmen was a loving sister and aunt and a tremendous fan of the Alabama Crimson Tide.  Carmen moved to Panama City, Florida in 1988 and resided with her friend and housemate Alice Smyth and dedicated and loving care providers Marie Smith and Shemekie Hands. Carmen attended St. Andrew Bay Center.

Graveside services were held on Tuesday, October 6, 2020 at 11am.  Reverend Harrell Cushing officiated.

J.W. WILLIAMSON

Mr. J.W Williamson, age 90, of Andalusia, passed away Monday, October 5, 2020.

A memorial service for Mr. Williamson will be announced at a later date.

He is survived by his wife, Norma Williamson of Andalusia; son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Leigh Williamson of Andalusia; daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Thomas Barrow of Spanish Fort, AL; three grandchildren, Dylan Williamson, Ethan Ellis, Meagan Agent; two great grandchildren, Christian Ellis and Georgia Ellis.
