Covington County woman killed in I-65 crash

A Covington County woman was killed in a car crash Thursday.
Charlotte Mauldin, 62, of Opp was pronounced dead at the scene of a tw0-vehicle crash on I-65 in Butler County.
According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, Mauldin was driving a 2010 Mazda 5 south on I-65 when a 2016 Freightliner Cascadia struck the rear of Mauldin’s vehicle. As a result, Mauldin left the roadway, struck a ditch and was ejected from the vehicle.
The crash occurred at 12:40 a.m. about 4 miles south of the Greenville city limits.
Nothing further is available as Troopers with the ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
