Suspect arrested after stabbing incident at DHR

A suspect believed to be involved in a stabbing incident Monday morning was taken into custody, according to the Andalusia Police Department.

The identity of the suspect has not been released at this time, but APD Chief Paul Hudson said his department is investigating the stabbing that occurred at approximately 10 a.m. inside the Covington County DHR office.

Law enforcement officials began searching for the suspect who was described as 21-year-old white male who was last seen wearing blue shorts, a black shirt and no shoes. He was last seen exiting the DHR building and running into a wooded area behind the office. The suspect was later seen in the area of Linda and Berman street where he reportedly entered a residence without permission. He was taken into custody on Ann Street a short time later.

The victim of the stabbing is a DHR employee and was transported to the hospital to be treated.
