A Florala man was killed in a two-vehicle accident Monday.

Don Edward Penton, 31, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash on U.S. 231 in Pike County, 9 miles north of the Troy city limits, at 2:39 p.m.

According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, Penton was traveling south on Hwy. 231 when the 2007 Chevrolet Silverado he was driving struck the rear of a 2010 Volvo XC70. As a result, Penton lost control of his truck, crossed the median and overturned. Penton was not wearing a seatbelt, according to ALEA.

Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
