Mr. John Comstock of Andalusia passed away Saturday, July 31, 2021, at his residence surrounded by his family. He was 78.

A small Memorial Service will be announced at a later date. Keahey Funeral Home will be entrusted with these arrangements.

Born in Albany, New York to William and Harriet Comstock, he joined the US Army at the age of 17 and served two tours in Vietnam. After retiring from the Army, he worked as a fireman, policeman, EMT, and bus driver in New York. He relocated to Andalusia in 2018 after reuniting with the love of his life, Ann Wasserman, after a 43-year separation. He enjoyed Alabama football, NASCAR, his grandchildren, and was an avid animal lover.

Left to cherish his memory, his partner, Ann Wasserman; daughter, Melissa Alexander of Manassas, Virginia, Vivian Hejnal (Richard) of Lake City, Michigan, and Terri Davis (Reginald) of Andalusia, Alabama; son, Chuck Godwin of Pace, Florida; brother, Bill Comstock of Castleton, New York; sisters, Linda Downey (Paul) of Castleton, New York, Barbara Miner of Midwest City, Oklahoma; 14 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son, John Comstock Jr.

He will be greatly missed.
