Mary “Glenda” Wood went to her eternal home on August 17, 2021, at the age of 82. Glenda was the firstborn to Stant and Abbie Wood on March 4, 1939.

She is survived by her sisters, Charlene Daughtry of Pensacola, Florida, Melba (Ray) Kelley of Andalusia, her brother, Floyd (Peggy) Wood of Andalusia; nieces and nephews, Mark (Neala) Daughtry of Pace, Florida, Traci Daughtry of Pensacola, Kevin (Angie) Kelley of Brewton, Cameron (Marcy) Kelley of Opp, Courtney (Shane) Bush of Calera, Alabama, Barry (Jan) Wood, Nikki Lambert, Clayton (Patty) Wood, Lance (Angie) Wood and Britton (Todd) Smith all of Andalusia and numerous great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Stant and Abbie Wood, and a brother Lloyd Wood.

Glenda was a force to be reckoned with from the get-go. She graduated from Straughn High School and worked at Alatex and the Pecan Plant aka the “nut house” as she and her coworkers called it. When Glenda retired she devoted most of her time to her flowers, particularly daylilies, as well as scrapbooking for her family. She was an active member of Mount Zion United Methodist Church where she served as a Sunday School attendant and treasurer for many, many years.

Services for Glenda were Friday, August 20, 2021, at 2 p.m. at Mount Zion United Methodist Church in Straughn. Visitation was one hour prior to services. Masks are preferred, but not required.

Pallbearers will be her nephews: Mark, Kevin, Cameron, Barry, Clayton, & Lance.

Honorary pallbearers will be her nieces: Traci, Nikki, Courtney, and Britton.
