Nikki Annettee Nowling Freemon-Ananthaswamy

Nikki Annettee Nowling Freemon-Ananthaswamy, 44, died at her children’s home in Smyrna, Tennessee on Sept. 2, 2021. She was born April 24, 1977, in Montgomery, Alabama, and grew up in Monroeville, Alabama. She was also a former young resident of Andalusia and was a resident of Cumming, Georgia.

Nikki was a former member of Eastwood and First Baptist Church of Monroeville, Alabama. She is survived by her husband Sathya Ananthaswamy of Cumming. The fraternal grandparents are the late Angus E Nowling of Red Level and the late Henry and Carrie Odom Yancey of Greenville; maternal grandparents are the late Graydon and Lottie Stanley of Andalusia. Her father is Gene Nowling (Vickey) of Peterman, Alabama and her mother is Antara Stanley Nowling of Monroeville. She is survived also by her brother, Weston Angus (Ashley) Nowling, of Foley, Alabama.

Children are Joshua Bishop of Florence, Alabama; Alexi and Nathan Freemon of Smyrna. She is also survived by James Freemon; aunts Marsha (Bill) Weston of San Antonio, Texas and Sharon Barham (late Woody Barham Jr) of Laurel, Mississippi; aunt Linda (John) North and uncle Michael Yancey of Greenville, Alabama. Nikki was a 1995 graduate of Monroe County High School. College degrees included Masters/Ph.D in psychology/neuroscience from Duke University. She was a former employee of Davita and Tennessee Oncology in Nashville, Tennessee. Nikki was known for her beautiful smile, generosity, and sense of humor.

There will be a private celebration of life by her family and burial will be in Andalusia Memorial Cemetery in Andalusia at a later time due to the pandemic.
