Covington County annual property tax notices will be mailed on Oct. 1, 2021. The total tax to be collected will be $12.5 million for the 2021 tax year.

Property tax payments can be made from Oct. 1, 2021, through Dec. 31, 2021, to avoid penalties and fees. Due to COVID-19, the Revenue Commissioner’s office encourages payment to be made through the United States Postal Service or online at www.covcounty.com. There is a 2.35 percent fee for all credit/debit card transactions. Payment can also be made in the Revenue Commissioner’s office at the Covington County Courthouse.

Residents who are eligible for the “Over 65” and Disability Homestead exemptions can expect their applications in the mail. These applications must be completed and returned to the Revenue Commissioner’s office by Dec. 31, 2021, to ensure their exemption remains.

Any property owner who will be 65 as of Oct. 1, 2021, may apply to have this exemption added for the next tax year. Any new homeowner who wishes to add a homestead exemption to their residence must come in to sign up between Oct. 1 and Dec. 31 this year.

Property owners who have made any changes to their deed will need to check to ensure all the exemptions they are qualified for are still in place after the change. Taxpayers may also inquire about current use.

For information or questions, the Revenue Commissioner’s office number is 334-428-2540, or send an email to Chuck Patterson at chuck.patterson@covcounty.com. We look forward to serving the people of Covington County this tax season. All checks should be made payable to Covington County Revenue Commissioner.
