Following a crucial homecoming win, Straughn (5-3, 3-2 4A Region 1) prepares to host Alabama Christian (5-2, 4-1) Friday, Oct. 15 at 7 p.m. Senior band members, cheerleaders, and football players will be recognized at 6:20 p.m.

The Tigers held off B.T. Washington, 28-22, last time out. The Eagles also won over Geneva, 33-7.

“It was a do or die game in regards to the playoffs, and our kids played so hard,” Head Coach Ashley Kilcrease said. “We are so proud of the effort and fight of this team. BTW was full of athletes, but the guys refused to lose. I am so proud for our seniors to win the first homecoming game in several years.”

Kilcrease said ACA will bring its own challenges.

“Our guys will have to put (last week’s) win behind them and go back to work. It will be a big night, and it’s our final home game as well as Senior Night.”

This year’s senior class has faced much adversity.

“I’m so proud of these nine seniors. They have endured a coaching change every year they have been at Straughn. They all love this program and have been great leaders and have done everything we have asked of them. We look forward to honoring them this week,” Kilcrease said.

This will be the fifth meeting between the two teams dating back to 1991. The Tigers have a 3-1 lead in the series and have outscored the Eagles, 115-101.

Alabama Christian posted a 49-7 home win over Straughn last year.
