Marie Pruitt Pierce, 96, formally of Opp passed away peacefully Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2021, at Mizell Memorial Hospital.

A public graveside service will be held for Marie Pruitt Pierce on Monday, Nov. 8, at 11 a.m., at the Opp City Cemetery with Brother Billy Boles officiating. There will be no visitation.

 

Marie is preceded in death by her parents, Raymond Pruitt and Mildred Jay Pruitt; her husband, James Byrd Pierce; her children, Virginia Gail Pierce Brabner, Thomas James Pierce III; and her son-in-law, Robert S. Lamar Jr.

She is survived by her children, Mildred Ellen Pierce Lamar, Mary Lynn Pierce Edgar (James Steven Edgar); grandchildren, John David Brabner Sr. HMC (SW) USN, Ret. (Lisa Brabner), Catherine Marie Brabner Thompson (Thomas Thompson Sr.), Teresa Gail Brabner Pope (Rev. Brent Devon Pope), Bryan Eric Brabner (Shannon Brabner), Emily Marie Pierce Worley (Lucas Worley), Mary-Morgan Pierce, and Callie Edgar Hatchett (David Hatchett); great-grandchildren, Thomas Henry Thompson Jr. (Ashley Thompson), John David Brabner Jr., Allison Pope Beckham (Andrew Beckham), Catherine Thompson Sirhan (Bubba Sirhan), Sarah Brabner, Garrett Evan Pope, Erica Brabner, Emerie Brabner, Robbie Linden, Hannon Hatchett; great- great-grandchildren, Adalyn Mae Thompson, Emma Lucille Thompson, Rhett Allen Beckham, and Tucker James Sirhan.

In lieu of flowers Marie asked for memorials to be made to the Cemetery Fund at her home church, Adellum Baptist Church. Memorials can be sent to the following address: 12514 Brooklyn Road, Andalusia, AL 36421.
