Albert Wayne Knox, 74, of Andalusia, passed away Thursday, Nov. 11, 2021, at home.

Mr. Knox participated in the Vietnam War as a soldier in the United States Army and served his country for more than 40 years. Wayne received a business certificate from Douglas MacArthur State Technical Institute and advanced degrees in history and teaching from Troy State University. Over the years, Wayne worked as a civil servant with the US Social Security Administration, as an educator and coach at Andalusia, Opp, and Covington County schools, and was a friendly face at the Evans Barnes Golf Course on the campus of LBW Community College.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Frances Watson Knox; father, George L. Knox; and two brothers, Donald R. Knox and Benny Joe Knox.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Jo Ann Tomlin Knox of Andalusia; two daughters, Jodie Knox Moody of Montgomery, Alabama and Fran Knox (Justin) Faircloth of Washington, D.C.; one son, Jayson Wayne Knox of Pensacola, Florida; three grandchildren, Knox Bradley Moody, Vivian Caddy Faircloth, and Joelle Madeleine Faircloth; one sister, Glinda Simmons; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. He will be greatly missed.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 17, at Foreman Brown-Service Funeral Home in Andalusia.  Visitation will be immediately before the service, beginning at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at Foreman Brown-Service Funeral Home in Andalusia. All expressions of sympathy, including flowers and cards, are welcome.
