Maxwell Moody was born on Nov. 9, 1934, in Opp, Alabama. On Sunday, Nov. 14, 2021, he left the dusty roads of Red Level, Alabama to walk the golden streets of Heaven and finally see the face of his Heavenly Father.

Maxwell served 4 years in the United States Air Force.  During his tour of duty on Okinawa Island he realized he was not saved and through Bible study came to know the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior.

He later earned his college degree and was Inspector of Construction, George Wallace Tunnel, Mobile, Alabama, and Construction Inspector, Burger King World Headquarters Building, Miami, Florida.  He was good at his job, that building withstood Category 5 Hurricane Andrew in 1992.

But Maxwell Moody’s first love was spreading the gospel of Christ! His Bible studies were completed at Grace Bible College, Albany, Georgia. He was ordained as a Baptist Minister in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Maxwell would be humbly honored to know how many people see him as a great prayer warrior.  He was never shy about asking those he met if their name was written down in The Lamb’s Book of Life.  And never hesitant to ask if you were certain of your salvation.

On July 1, 1952, Maxwell married his high school sweetheart, Elaine (Williams). God blessed him with a full quiver!  He is adored by his children: Marsha (Dennis) McCarra of Red Level, Kana (Emerson) Overman of Elizabeth City, North Carolina, Sunny (Alexandria) Moody of Montgomery; grandchildren, Derek (Nicole) McCarra, Daniel (Kelley) McCarra, Stephen (Rachel) Parsons, Tanya (Paul) Casares, Jason (Stephanie) Parsons, Gretchen (Kevin) Williams, Sawyer Moody; 30 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Maxwell is also survived by siblings: Elizabeth Jones, Jerry Moody, Janie Reeves, and Rick Moody.

He is preceded in death by a brother, Windelle Moody, as well as his parents, Alfred Brady and Clara Belle Moody of Opp.

Graveside Services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2 p.m., at Mount Carmel Cemetery, Hesters Store Road, Red Level.

A Joyful Memorial Celebration of Life will be held around the campfire on Friday, Nov. 26, at 2 p.m., 8151 Colvin Road in Red Level.
