Florala came from behind in the boys’ game as Zion Chapel trounced Zion Chapel following a win by the Lady Wildcats Thursday night.

The Lady Wildcats (4-1) opened up a 14-0 lead after one and never blinked on the way to a 54-30 win. The Lady Rebels (1-3) dented the scoreboard with eight points in the second. FHS turned on the jets with a 21-point showing and led 35-8 at halftime. ZCHS added 11 points in the third but still trailed 37-19 with eight minutes remaining despite only allowing two points in the third. Florala found its stride in the fourth with 17 points as Zion Chapel racked up another 11.

Kyndra Anthony finished with 16 points and eight steals as Sharae Coleman added 11 points, six rebounds, five assists, and five steals. Alyssa Thames collected nine points, two rebounds, one assist, and four steals. Cheyenne Ragan earned eight points and seven rebounds. Meagan Odom tallied 14 rebounds, one assist, and two steals.

“We played really well tonight. We were clicking on all cylinders and shot the ball extremely well in the first half. Everybody contributed tonight in some form of fashion. Our kids are playing relentless and with purpose night in and night out. I’m super proud of their success and efforts this far,” said Head Coach David Bass.

The Wildcats (2-3) mounted a late rally to polish off the sweep but were behind 16-9 at the end of the opening quarter. Both teams hit double digits in the second frame, but the Rebels (3-3) took a 29-23 lead into the break. ZCHS was outscored by two in the third but maintained a 36-32 advantage after three. Florala snapped a three-game slide with a strong finish and had 13 points. The defense held Zion Chapel at bay and only gave up six.

Rayshon Coleman earned 22 points, five rebounds, two assists, and four steals. Kennith Jackson had six points while Elijah McMeans added five points, 12 rebounds, and three blocks. Christian Greasham also had five boards and one assist.

“I am very proud of our young men and coaches on a hard-fought win. We made some adjustments, and our guys responded with a good defensive effort in the second half holding them to 13 points. Offensively, we settled down. I’m happy the guys had fun, and the crowd was great, too,” Head Coach Troy Turman said.

Florala heads back on the road Friday, Dec. 3 for a pair of contests at Geneva beginning at 5:30 p.m.
