Mr. Charles David Hester of Andalusia passed away unexpectedly in Oakbrook, Illinois on Nov. 30, 2021. He was 35.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Dec. 7, 11 a.m.,  at Keahey Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Monday at Keahey Funeral Home. Rev. Wesley Jeffcoat will officiate. Interment will follow in the New Providence Baptist Church in the Brooklyn Community.

Left to cherish his memory: father, David Lewis Hester, and mother, Debra Sue Hester; sisters, Samantha Brooks and Anna Worley; and brother, Benjamin Hester.

David was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, William Clyde and Ora Mae Hester; maternal grandparents, William Kinard and Maedell Gardner Edgar.

Charles was a member of the Straughn High School Class of 2004 who voted him Class Favorite. He marched with The Sound Gold Marching Band where he played trombone and served as Drum Major his junior and senior years. During his senior year, he was awarded the Mallory Award at the Little Big Horn Band Competition, an award presented to the drum major with the highest score of the entire competition. He went on to graduate from LBW Community College in 2008 and attended Troy University where he marched with the Sound of the South. Charles graduated from the University of Alabama in December 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in Human Environmental Science. He loved to travel and was given the opportunity to see many places after earning his first set of wings in 2010 when he began working his dream job as a flight attendant. He will be remembered for his love of Alabama football, his love for his family, his amazing smile, and his ability to make you laugh. He was truly the Best of the Best.
