2022 will mark the author’s fourth year of writing about Covington County, Alabama, veterans. If you’ve read their stories, you know that it takes a lot of help from a veteran’s family to write their stories.

Pictured above are the names on the Covington County Veterans Memorial, showing those who made the ultimate sacrifice in WW II, Korea and Vietnam. There are many names on there that have not had their story told.

When you make your New Year’s resolutions, why not make a resolution to help tell the story of a deceased military relative or acquaintance. If you’re unable to do that, help tell the story of a living veteran.

Our nation has many heroes and not all of them are veterans.  None of them are more deserving of the title, Hero, than the soldier, sailor or marine that served his country. The motto of the Covington Veterans Foundation is, “A soldier never dies until he is forgotten.”
