Health coaches Bobby and Tisha Richardson wanted to make healthy fun for the community and reached the two-year mark at EmPower Nutrition on Thursday.

EmPower Nutrition first opened in Andalusia on Jan. 13, 2020.

“This opportunity means everything to us. It’s good that we live in a community of people who sincerely care about their health and nutrition. They are so supportive of our business, and it has been a blessed two years for us. We feel like our customers have become our family. We still meet new people each day and are truly grateful to have the opportunity to serve the public,” Tisha said.

The opportunity to first open was a quick start for the couple. “We were regulars at a nutrition club and had seen there was a way we could get on a program at home. They also discussed business opportunities as well, and we thought we would pursue that. Now, two years later, we are still going strong and offering Andalusia a healthy fast food alternative with an awesome, upbeat, and positive atmosphere to hang out in.”

EmPower offers the public meal replacement shakes, healthy energizing teas, aloe shots, protein bars, and bites just to name a few.

“Our soy-based shakes are off the charts on nutrition. They have 21 vitamins and minerals, 24 grams of protein, and a balance of fat and carbohydrates. They are everything you need in a complete nutritious meal. Our teas boost your metabolism and are full of vitamins B and C, which give you more positive mental-focused energy. You can add biotin, collagen, protein, immune support, hydration, probiotic, and more to your tea to give you the maximum benefits. The aloe shots we offer help soothe and aid your digestive system. They get your system moving and grooving. All three each benefit the body in a different way, so if you get a combo of all three, that’s always the best option,” she said.

The choice to open in Andalusia was an easy one for them. “We live in Andalusia, and Bobby has always worked in Andalusia. We already felt like we had family and friends here. There was a big demand for healthy nutrition, and health coaches help provide that information with knowledge of the products and promote a healthier lifestyle. Our products will help supply your body with the vitamins and nutrients you need to live that healthy, active lifestyle,” Tisha said.

In addition to owning and operating EmPower, the couple has other jobs. For Tisha, she does hair and makeup on the side when she is not working behind the bar. Bobby is a full-time employee at Shaw Industries. No matter what, being health coaches is something the couple takes pride in.

“I love to help others and have many stories about helping people change their lives. We have changed our lives as well, and both of us have such a passion for helping others reach their goals and live a healthier lifestyle. It’s been a pretty amazing journey. When Bobby has the chance to be here with me, he even has a tea party with the children who visit us,” Tisha said.

The menu at EmPower Nutrition continues to grow and has a wide selection of shakes and teas catered to all ages. When asked about their favorites, the couple has their go-to flavors.

“My favorite shake is our Waffle Cone, and my tea always has energy, biotin, collagen, probiotic, and anything watermelon. Bobby is everything but the kitchen sink and has what we call the Bobby Shake. We actually have a few guys who come in and also request the Bobby Shake. Let’s just say this: it’s extra and a little special, which is just like Bobby, to be honest.”

At the beginning of each month, a custom shake and tea is chosen as a monthly special.

As they continue to progress forward, Tisha said they are blessed with the amazing journey they have been on. “We definitely are looking to expand and grow our business. There are big things coming, and we are so excited for this year of helping others and new growth in so many ways here in Andalusia.”

EmPower Nutrition is located at 110A Hillcrest Drive in Andalusia across the street from Jack’s and can be reached at 334-504-9799. The business is also located on Facebook through the same name. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Bobby and Tisha Richardson have a son, Austin, and daughter, Kaitlyn.

“We absolutely love each and every one of you and are so thankful for all of your support. We look forward to continuing to serve each of you and helping you all reach your fitness goals for 2022. Thank you for being a part of our family at EmPower Nutrition for the last two years and supporting us as we continue doing what we truly are passionate about,” Tisha said.
