Firefighters and the Covington County Sheriff’s Office responded to a fire at the Gantt Lake RV park Saturday.

Gantt Area Fire and Rescue Chief Scott Fight said the fire spread and ultimately damaged multiple RVs. Firefighters received the call at approximately 7:30 a.m.

“It was three RVs and an SUV that burned,” Fight said. “When we got there, they were fully engulfed and had spread to the others. It started with one and went to three others and a vehicle by the time we got there. We just stopped it from spreading any further.”

Others responding to the scene included the Heath Fire Department with two trucks, River Falls, Advanced EMS, the Co-op, and the Covington County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Blake Turman said a quick response was key to stopping the fire’s spread.

“Three RVs were lost to the fire, but quick response and action by Gantt Fire Department, Heath Fire Department, and River Falls Police Department prevented the loss of several other homes that were threatened,” Turman said.
