Kimberly Sasser, a local mother, is battling stage four breast cancer and seeking help from the public at an upcoming fundraiser.

“My first diagnosis was in August 2018, and I recently found out I have stage four metastasized breast cancer. I’m 33 years old with children under the age of 7. I’m a stay-at-home mom, I love Jesus, and I’m thankful for all of you,” Sasser said.

The all-day event is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 19 at the Kiwanis Community Center in Andalusia. Funds raised at the event will cover medical expenses and the family’s financial needs during their time of need. A GoFundMe page can also be accessed at https://gofund.me/27dc798f.

“We are looking for corporate sponsors, volunteers, and donations toward a silent auction. We are in need of auction items and volunteers to help in different areas on the day of the event. If anyone has a beach house they would be willing to donate for a weekend, that is always a bigger auction item and one that people will bid high on. Forms may also be filled out on the Kimberly Sasser Foundation Facebook page. Silent auction donations may be dropped off at Outlaw Realty, CCB Bank, or Sanbuck Insurance,” Coordinator MaryAlyce Outlaw said.

The fundraiser will include food, a concert, silent auction, and photo booth with Skip Enzor. BBQ plates consisting of a BBQ sandwich, chips, dessert, and bottled water cost $10 per plate and will be available for dine-in or carry out. Those purchasing a plate in advance will be permitted to pick up from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. the day of the event. The silent auction is scheduled to take place from 5 to 9 p.m.

T-shirts are also available for purchase at $20 each and may be purchased through the online link on the Facebook page or at Outlaw Realty. Concert tickets are $5 per person, and children aged five and under will be admitted free. Doors will open at 5 p.m., and bands include 55 South, Ten Mile Branch, Dustin Dyess & The Backporchers, Scott Rogers, and Phillip McClung.

“All proceeds will go directly to the Kimberly Sasser Fund. Monetary donations may also be given directly to Southern Independent Bank, which has an account set up in her name. We would like to thank everyone in the community for all their love and support. Every person that is offering their time and giving of donations is a blessing beyond words,” Outlaw added.
