The Andalusia Civitan Club hosted a luncheon for members of the clergy on Friday, Feb. 4.

This annual event recognizes the clergy’s service to their churches and our community. Danny Bess shared an inspirational message of encouragement to the clergy present.

Civitans across the nation set aside time to recognize the clergy in honor of the four chaplains (two Protestant ministers, a Rabbi, and a Catholic Priest) in World War II who gave their life jackets to soldiers when the USS Dorchester was sinking in the icy waters near Greenland.

Among those in attendance were Dewayne Seay, minister of Babbie Baptist Church; Danny Bess, guest speaker; Leroy Cole, Civitan Vice President and minister with the Covington Baptist; Lena Boswell, Civitan and minister; Jack Armstrong, minister of Carolina Baptist Church; Garrett Davis, student minister at Carolina Baptist Church; Phillip McClung, worship leader at Carolina Baptist Church; Elder Fred Belcher and Nathaniel Belcher, minister of Faith Deliverance Church in Lockhart. Lena Boswell also ministers at the church.
