Located south of Andalusia, the Stanley Schoolhouse is a historical attraction in need of repairs and a GoFundMe account has been set up to help preserve the building.

“If we can’t raise money to resolve some of the serious problems with the building, it will disappear like so many other wooden schools before it. The major issues include leaks in the roof and rotted siding and flashing,” organizers of the Stanley Schoolhouse said. “The Stanley community seeks to raise funds to repair these issues and paint the building.”

This historic structure is the third building to serve as a school for the Stanley community and is nearly 100 years old. The Alabama Historical Commission deemed the building a significant landmark.

In 1958, the school closed and the building was repurposed as a community center. Over the years, the building hosted many weddings, fall festivals, birthday parties, and other events. Repairs were made to the building as possible, but it has been many years since any significant work could be done.

“We hope you will contribute to preserving this beautiful structure and an important part of history. Our goal is to see this building again be an integral part of a thriving community where people can host important events. So many residents of the Stanley community have fond memories of this building, and we seek to ensure our children have the chance to make memories here as well.”
