Betty Hart Reynolds, 89 of Andalusia, passed away peacefully at her residence on Saturday, Feb. 26, 2022, just two days shy of her 90th birthday.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 1, 11 a.m., at West Highland Baptist Church with Brother Larry Stewart and Brother Billy Boles officiating and Foreman Funeral Home directing. Interment followed at the Andalusia Memorial Cemetery. Visitation began at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday at West Highland Baptist Church. Special music was provided by Tommy McGaha and Trish Gatlin.

Betty Hart was born on Feb. 28, 1932, in Andalusia, Alabama. She was the middle of three children born to Randolph and Thelma Hart. In May 1941, at the age of nine, she accepted Christ as her Savior and was baptized into the fellowship of West Highland Baptist Church. Soon following, several other members of her family were baptized and united with the church, and Betty was the disciple who brought these to Christ and to the church. Growing up in the church, Betty was active in youth organizations, choir, and mission organizations.

She married the love of her life, Ottis Ferrell Reynolds, on December 30, 1949, and Ottis was baptized into West Highland on July 16, 1950. She raised her four children in the church, taught in the Primary Department for many years, served as WMU Group Leader and Secretary, worked in Vacation Bible School, and many other areas of the church.  She has served on and chaired every church committee. She remained a faithful member of West Highland Baptist Church for the past 81 years and was recently recognized as the oldest member of the church.

Betty enjoyed visiting the nursing home and shut-ins. Everyone always welcomed her visits and especially delighted in her famous tea cakes, divinity, and red velvet cake. Her grandchildren always loved it when she would make them homemade macaroni and cheese and pimento cheese.

Betty is survived by her children: Michael Ferrel Reynolds (Jerry) of McComb, Mississippi; Robert (Bob) Clayton Reynolds of Andalusia; Christopher Alan Reynolds of Ozark, Alabama; Kimberly Reynolds Johns (Richard) of Red Level, Alabama; six grandchildren, Traci Reynolds Carraway (Duke), Taylor Reynolds Wright (Kimber), Nathan Kyle Johns (Emily), Whitney Lauryn Wright, Ashley Brooke Wright, Jason Christopher Reynolds (Hope); three great-grandchildren, Christopher Carraway, Jamie Carraway, and Liam Johns; one sister, Lanette Goodyear of Andalusia; one sister-in-law, Leila Morris of Hinesville, Georgia; and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Ottis Reynolds; parents, Randolph and Thelma Hart; and brother, Robert Hart.

A special thank you to all of those who loved and cared for Betty during her time of illness, especially her daily caretakers, as well as Comfort Care Hospice for their loving care.

Pallbearers were Taylor Wright, Nathan Johns, Jason Reynolds, Duke Carraway, Kelly Goodyear, and Richard Johns.
