He is survived by a daughter, Addison Grace Phillips; parents, Jimmy and Alice Phillips; sisters, Kelly Ware (Carl), Kerry Loflin (Nick), Maggie Hammond (Patton); and nieces and nephews, Carl Ware (Judi), Allyson Wilkerson (River), Nicholas Loflin, Kayla Loflin, Mary Alice Wilkerson, Coston Wilkerson, Ruby Anne Ware, Layla Ware; and many beloved friends. A celebration of life was held at First United Methodist Church in Troy on Thursday, March 17, at 11 a.m. with visitation one hour prior. Dr. Sam Self officiated. Burial followed at Green Hills Cemetery.

Michael, better known as “Squeak,” graduated from Charles Henderson High School in 2001, where he played baseball and ran track. He practiced his love for motors at JP Technical College and studied business at Shelton State after high school.

Michael was a generous man; he volunteered with the Coffee County Baptist Relief Team. He could build or repair almost anything and shared his talents with all who asked. He was a God-fearing man and served his church by teaching Vacation Bible School, helping in the nursery, chaperoning youth trips, and serving on various committees.

The pride of his life was his daughter, whom he called “Red.”  He said the greatest moments of his life were spent with her. His sisters mothered him from the moment he was born, and his parents adored him.

The family suggests memorials be made to Coffee County Baptist Association, 603 E McKinnon Street, New Brockton, AL 36351, ATTN: Disaster Relief Fund, or Addison Phillips Trust Fund in care of Troy Bank & Trust. Flowers are also welcomed.
