Florala High School senior Cheyenne Regan developed a love for basketball six years ago and accepted a scholarship offer from Enterprise State Community College on Thursday, April 14.

“I’m grateful for this opportunity because I know not everyone gets to continue their basketball career like I was blessed to do. I am looking forward to creating new friendships with my new teammates. I chose to continue my basketball career with ESCC because I loved my visit there. This opportunity means the world to me, and I wouldn’t change it for the world,” Regan said.

She was a forward for the Lady Wildcats during her senior season. Regan averaged 6.8 points per game, 7.2 rebounds, 0.9 assists, 1.3 steals, and 0.7 blocks in 25 games this season. Florala ended the season 24-7 overall and went undefeated in area play, which culminated with the 1A Area 2 championship over Pleasant Home.

“Cheyenne brought a lot to our team with her high energy and leadership. She played on the varsity team since she was in the ninth grade and has evolved into a great leader over the years. She’s a great student who excels and shows leadership both on and off the court. She is a great kid and a coach’s dream. The only time she would miss practice is if she was injured. She was always the first in the gym and last to leave. Cheyenne loved the game, and her dedication and hard work are the reason she’s getting the opportunity to play at the next level,” FHS Head Coach David Bass said.

She is excited about playing at the next level with Enterprise State and appreciated her time at Florala. “I will miss the smile on my coaches’ and teammates’ faces after a huge win. I learned a lot from my coaches. They taught me how to shoot, rebound, and most importantly that I need confidence. My biggest highlight was when we played Straughn.”

Regan started playing basketball in the seventh grade and was thankful for everyone who cheered for her during the last six years.

“I was drawn to it because I was tall, and all the coaches wanted me to play. The support of my family and friends means so much to me. I wouldn’t be the player I am today without that support. My mother is my biggest influence, but Coach Bass definitely influenced me also,” she said.

She is the daughter of Shaun and Cassandra Regan with two siblings, Austin and Savanna. Regan will graduate from Florala High School on Friday, May 27, 2022.

“Cheyenne will bring a lot of rebounding to us and plays hard around the rim. I was looking for that after not having someone as an inside presence last year. She came to us on a couple of visits, and I watched how she played at Florala through the years. She works hard and is very coachable. While talking to her on the phone, she is a ‘yes sir, no sir’ type player and an overall good kid that will be a good fit for our program. I’m excited to have Cheyenne, and it was a big day for Enterprise State,” said ESCC Head Coach Jeremaine Williams.
