All six county softball teams will begin the softball postseason with the first hurdle to clear, the Alabama High School Athletic Association area tournament round.

This year will mark the final time softball conducts an area tournament, as the format will convert to a four-team regional field in 2023.

For all area tournaments, the top-seeded team in the final regular-season standings will serve as the host. Each tournament will be conducted in a double-elimination bracket. The higher seed will be the designated “home team” in the first games, while a coin flip will determine the “home team” in all subsequent games.

Admission is $8 per day plus a processing fee, and all tickets must be purchased through the AHSAA’s ticketing partner, GoFan.
