The Andalusia Office Professionals Association (AOPA) held their 44th Annual Banquet on April 18 at Big Mike’s to elect new officers and award the Office Professional of the Year award.

New officers appointed for the 2022-23 year were: Camaro King, President; Beverly Jaynes, Vice President; Kathryn Bush, Treasurer; Trece Mays, Secretary; Sandy Wilford, Director; and Kim Nawlin, Director.

Trece Mays of Andalusia Manor was selected as Office Professional of the Year.

Aubrey McKee, owner of the Rody Mill, served as guest speaker during the banquet. She spoke about her journey to owning her own business, being a mom, balancing work life, and encouraged the group to follow their dreams.

AOPA held its first luncheon in 1978 as the Andalusia Secretaries Association.  The organization was created to cultivate friendly relationships, promote mutual understanding and to encourage higher standards and continued education in the administrative professional field.

“AOPA welcomes any person employed in an administrative support position in a business or office in Covington County,” said King. “We strive to be productive members of our community and give back to a community that has given us so much.”

According to King, 2021 was a great year for AOPA, which resumed normal operations following COVID. Through AOPA’s scholarship fundraiser, the organization awarded four $500 scholarships to adults in the workforce continuing their education.

“AOPA is looking forward to a productive year,” King said. “It is a great way to meet other office professionals and get involved in our community.”
