Trece Mays of Andalusia Manor was named the recipient of the Andalusia Office Professional Association’s 2022 Office Professional of the Year.

Mays is an employee at Andalusia Manor and was nominated for the award by her supervisor, SalLee Sasser-Williams. Mays currently serves the AOPA as the 2022-23 secretary and has been a member of the organization since 2018.

Williams nominated Mays for the award based on her work ethic and passion for the residents of Andalusia Manor.

“Trece has always had a heart for the residents of the nursing home industry, but especially through the COVID pandemic. She not only showed grace and determination but compassion for employees’ and residents’ family members. She always puts the needs of the residents first,” Williams said.

Mays said she enjoys her work at Andalusia Manor and the friendships formed as an AOPA member.

“I was very excited to receive the Office Professional of the Year Award. I love working with the ladies in AOPA. I am proud to be a part of an organization that loves Andalusia as much as I do.

Through her duties, Mays has proven to take on every job with the residents and her co-workers being the top priority.

“Trece develops a plan that is fun and exciting. Whether it is bingo for the residents or a special lunch for a specific department, she is always there making sure everything is done to perfection. She encourages employees to pursue their dreams, to grow in their own hearts, and to take one day at a time. She is a voice and an advocate for our residents and our staff. She goes above and beyond for the joy and happiness of our residents and staff,” Williams said.

Along with her role in AOPA, Mays also served on the Andalusia Hospital Board and was elected to the Andalusia Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. She is involved with several committees within the Alabama Nursing Home Association.

Mays began her career as a Certified Nursing Assistant and worked diligently to gain her license as a Practical Nurse and then on to a Registered Nurse. She became an Assistant Director of Nursing, then a Director of Nursing. She has been a Licensed Long Term Care Administrator for almost 20 years where she has held the titles of an assistant administrator and certified risk manager for long-term care.

Mays has been the administrator at Andalusia Manor for almost 15 years.
