The Covington County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents of a potential scam after receiving complaints.
Sheriff Blake Turman issued the warning concerning complaints of the suspected scam.
“Someone presenting themselves as a concert promoter has been contacting local businesses in an attempt to raise money to host a concert featuring country music star Dustin Lynch,” Turman said.
The alleged promoter also references Jason Aldean and other top shelf country music artists as being part of the concert. Law enforcement officers have contacted Dustin Lynch’s management company and they are unaware of any concert efforts in this part of Alabama.
Sheriff Turman advises that any business who may have been contacted by anyone about this matter should contact his office.
“Folks should be wary of giving money to solicitors unless they are documented and their credentials all check out,” Turman said.
Business owners who have been affected by the suspected scam can contact Turman’s office at 334-428-2641.
Law enforcement continues to investigate the matter to determine whether any criminal charges will be forthcoming.
