Red Level School has announced Caylee Jordan Douglas as the senior class of 2022 valedictorian and Makayla Noel Harrelson as the salutatorian.

Douglas is the daughter of Johnny and Delores Douglas with a sister, Courtney Jacobs. Harrelson is the daughter of Michael and Stephanie Harrelson with a sister, Makenna Harrelson.

“I am very grateful and honored to be the valedictorian of my graduating class. From many years shed to long nights working on papers or studying for tests, it has definitely been well worth it,” Douglas said. “Being chosen as salutatorian of my senior class is a great honor. I have always strived to do my best in everything, both academically and in life, and this is where it has led me. It is also special to me because my mother was the salutatorian of the Red Level Class of 1996,” Harrelson said.

Douglas plans to attend the University of Alabama to major in Kinesiology on the Pre-Physical Therapy track to become a physical therapist. “After suffering several injuries and seeing how much of an impact my physical therapist had on my athletic career, I wanted to help other individuals in the same way.”

Harrelson will be attending Auburn University to study psychology. “The mind has fascinated me for quite some time. I hope to become a behavioral scientist, so I can help people adapt their behavior into a healthier way of living. I am also keeping an open mind to different fields of psychology.”

This year’s valedictorian and salutatorian were grateful to attend Red Level School.

“The most enjoyable part about being a student at Red Level School is the family feeling you get every time you walk through the doors of the school. The relationships I have made with my teachers, classmates, and the staff are ones I will treasure forever,” Douglas said.

“I love the bond my classmates and I formed, and it was easy for us because of how small our class is. It made high school a lot more enjoyable when you could experience it with the people you’ve been with for the past 13 years,” Harrelson said.

Both agreed they would not forget their time as Tigers and look forward to the future.

“I will miss being able to get advice from my teachers whenever I needed help with something. I will also miss being an athlete and being able to cheer on my school under those Friday night lights along with jumping over hurdles and running with my relay team,” Douglas said. “I will miss being a part of the Red Level ‘A Touch of Class’ Band the most. It has brought me to where I am today and has allowed me to make some of my greatest friends,” Harrelson said.

Douglas added that she sees herself attending graduate school and working toward her physical therapy degree in the next five to 10 years. “I look forward to being able to take the many lectures given by my parents and putting them to use. I also look forward to the new challenges in the journey ahead.”

Harrelson has the same idea in place for the next five to 10 years. “Although I’m not one who absolutely loves change, I am looking forward to this new chapter. I am excited to learn how to live on my own and how to manage my time as I take on more responsibilities. The field I am entering is one where it is almost impossible to get a job with a graduate-level degree, so I hope to see myself in graduate school, but ultimately, I hope to have gained the experiences and education I need to be successful in my career.”

Red Level School will hold the Class of 2022’s graduation ceremony Thursday, May 26 at 7:30 p.m.

“I am grateful for my Tiger family along with my parents, grandparents, and coaches who have helped establish who I am as a person and athlete. While I face many challenges ahead, I can’t wait to see what God has in store for me,” Douglas said. “I will be a member of the Honors College at Auburn University and will also be trying out for the Auburn University Marching Band at the beginning of August,” Harrelson said.
