Three county teams represented in ASWA preseason football poll

The 2022 high school football season is drawing ever closer, and three Covington County teams are in the Alabama Sports Writers Association’s preseason poll Sunday, August 7.

Andalusia checked in at the number three slot in Class 4A and received two first-place votes in the initial poll. Opp was listed at number four in Class 3A. The Bulldogs will host the Bobcats in the season opener for both teams Thursday, August 18.

Straughn was listed among 10 other teams receiving votes in Class 3A. The Tigers host Red Level in a preseason jamboree Friday, August 19, and open the season with a home region game Friday, August 26, against Pike County.

All games are scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
