The Andalusia High School Football Hall of Fame Committee inducted six new members in a ceremony in the Andalusia City Hall Auditorium following the Homecoming Parade on Friday, Sept. 9.

This year’s inductees are as follows:

  • Ashley Baker, #73, who started at left offensive tackle in 30 consecutive games, helping the Bulldogs compile a 26-3-1 record. He was named best blocking lineman as a senior in 1973 and was all SAC. He was recruited by several colleges, but chose an academic route and became a civil engineer. He retired as a vice president of the Southern Company.
  • Brannon Bryan, #42, was a four-year starter at linebacker from 2004-2007. He was named defensive MVP and permanent team captain in both his junior and senior seasons. He followed in his father Tim Bryan’s footsteps and walked on at Troy, where he earned a full scholarship. He went on to start in 26 consecutive games at Troy University and was a part of three conference championships and three bowl appearances.
  • Terry DuBose, who lettered in baseball, track, basketball, and football between 1963 and 1966. The Birmingham News named him first-team All-State, and he was chosen to play for the South on the Alabama All-Star team. He was recruited to the University of Alabama, where he played tight end from 1966-1968.
  • Coach James C. Hall, Jr. was a native of Gadsden, who had set records as a running back and punt returner for the Hornets. He came to Woodson High School to coach football and teach driver’s ed in 1960. He went on to lead Woodson through the 1967 season, amassing a record of 41 wins, nine losses, and three ties. After eight seasons at Woodson, he returned to his hometown of Gadsden, where he taught and coached until his death at age 57. His wife, Agnes, accepted the award for him, and she was joined by several of their five sons. She spoke very highly of their time in Andalusia.
  • Derek Staley, was a triple threat at Andalusia High School, playing basketball, football and baseball. He starred as a running back for Andalusia High School in 1991 and 1992, and his performance earned him a full scholarship to Samford University, where his coaches were Terry Bowden and Jimbo Fisher, who’s now the head football coach at Texas A&M. Staley is in the Samford University football record books for carrying the ball 35 times against Tennessee Tech in 1995 for 195 yards.
  • Lee Williams was a three-year football letterman in 1974, 1975, and 1976. During his career, Andalusia was undefeated in the regular season and made two championship playoffs, winning the title of state co-champion in 1976. Williams was a fan favorite for his outstanding defensive plays and hard hits.

Prior to Friday, Sept. 9, this program, which began in 2010, had inducted 40 people and seven teams.
