AJHS, AHS students visit mental health conference

Andalusia Junior High School and Andalusia High School students attended a youth mental health conference Wednesday, Sept. 21.

The conference, known as REFOCUS, took place this year at Shocco Springs in Talladega, Alabama.

FOCUS is based on developing 21st-century skills through project-based learning. Students work together to help decrease adolescent risk behaviors by developing leadership skills, peer helping, planning education and awareness events, participating in community service projects, and utilizing focus groups to gather together.

The students listened to inspiring speakers and had breakout sessions with students their age.

AJHS students attending were Na’Imah Bradley, Emma Beth Ennis, Alyssa Garland, Layla Gunter Londyn Jackson, Everly Mack, Kimora Pruitt, Ocean Reeves, Macy Tucker, Brilyn Turner, Thomas Turner, and Reese Wells.

AHS students attending were Brimaine Beattie, Saranel Brundidge, Zoe’e Bush, Tristan Chambers, Helena Cotton, Kera Dorsey, Karis Dubose, Courtlyn Knight, Makinley Marlowe, Naudia Maye, AriYanna Pryor, Maggie Rayborn, Andy Shelander, Lexi Stallworth, Caroline Turner, Jimmy White, Kara Wise, Shambresha Woods, Brianna Yelder, and Shelby Ziglar.
