With a challenge ahead, Pleasant Home (2-5, 1-4 1A Region 2) prepares to travel for the final time this season to Brantley (5- 2, 4-1) Friday, Oct. 14, at 7 p.m.

The teams meet for the 23rd consecutive season, and the Bulldogs have a 21-1 series lead over the Eagles.

“Brantley is a very good football team like they always are. They have some phenomenal players and their coaches do a great job utilizing what they have. They are disciplined, assignment-sound, and talented. They will present a challenge for any team they face,” said Head Coach Cody Sellers.

Pleasant Home struggled on both sides of the ball in last week’s game. “We were able to throw the ball well, and that is something we wanted to do going into the game. However, I was surprised we couldn’t run the ball consistently Friday night. We missed too many assignments up front in the run game at some key attack points,” he said.

According to Sellers, the Eagles have had difficulty with stopping their opponents’ running game all season.

“We struggle to get off of blocks and make one-on-one tackles. We had a number of opportunities with defenders meeting the ball carrier behind or at the line of scrimmage and couldn’t make the tackle. We are going to devote a lot of time to improving our defense this week in practice. We have to continue to improve as a team and a program. It’s imperative we utilize each opportunity we are given to do so.”

The Eagles fell to the Bulldogs in 2021, 53-0. Pleasant Home fell to Houston County last time out, 42-21, while Brantley downed Georgiana, 40-0.
