Following a tough loss, the competition will be a challenge once again this week as Pleasant Home (2-6, 1-5 1A Region 2) welcomes top-ranked Elba (8-0, 7-0) Friday, Oct. 21, at 7 p.m.

This will be the third contest between the two teams as the Tigers won previous matchups against the Eagles in 2018 and 2019.

“When watching Elba, it’s clear to see why they are the number-one team in Class 1A. They have some amazing talent, and it will be a daunting task to stop them. However, we view challenges as opportunities to grow and work on our mental toughness. No matter who the opponent is, a team must always focus on improving and moving the program in the right direction,” said Head Coach Cody Sellers.

Despite falling to Brantley last week, Pleasant Home showed improvement in some areas.

“I was proud to see our guys never quit even in the toughest of times. Brantley was a tough challenge for us, and it was apparent early on we had our hands full. Defensively, I felt like we improved in some of the areas we were working on, but we still have work to do. Special teams were not as sharp as they have been, so we will focus on correcting those mistakes this week. Our offense didn’t have sustained success but had some positive moments and was able to find the end zone a couple of times,” Sellers added.

The Eagles suffered a 54-0 setback in their last meeting with the Tigers during the 2019 season. Pleasant Home fell at Brantley last week, 55-13, while Elba defeated Florala at home, 55-27.
