With a playoff berth secured, Florala (7-2, 5-2 1A Region 2) will host Brantley (7-2, 6-1) for senior night and seek to grab the region’s second seed Friday, Oct. 28, at 7 p.m.

Senior band members, cheerleaders, and football players will be recognized prior to the game at 6:20 p.m.

The two teams will meet for the 23rd straight season and 30th time overall. The Bulldogs have a 25-3-1 series lead over the Wildcats dating back to 1943.

“Brantley is a traditional powerhouse, but we will be ready to go out and compete this week. We are hopeful for a great week of practice. We are happy to make the playoffs but not overlooking our opponent and just settling to get in the playoffs. We were able to watch them in person against Red Level and see some of their strengths as well as some things we can capitalize on,” Head Coach Jordan Cantrell said.

Florala punched a ticket to the playoffs last week. With a win this week, the Wildcats can clinch a first-round home game. A loss will result in either the third or fourth seed dependent upon the outcome of the Pleasant Home-Georgiana game.

“We knew a playoff berth was on the line going into the game and that Kinston was a tough opponent. It was a scoring battle that went back and forth. After halftime, we regrouped both offensively and defensively and turned it on. Coach (Rudy) Free is a really good coach who does a good job at Kinston. We were fortunate to pull away midway through the third quarter and into the fourth. We are proud of our guys, coaches, and administration. This community is awesome to be a part of, and we have a great band and wonderful cheerleaders, too,” he said.

Florala fell to Brantley, 54-24, last year. The Wildcats defeated Kinston, 56-30, in their previous game, while the Bulldogs won at Red Level, 34-6.
