The Andalusia Office Professionals Association had its biggest turnout and most successful Monster Mash Dash to date by raising $7,600 at the event Saturday, Oct. 22.

“This year’s Monster Mash Dash was a huge success thanks to the hard work of our members and the support of our community. We had over 140 participants register and 117 compete. This year was our biggest turnout to date, and that showed in our numbers. We were able to raise $7,600. We are so grateful for the continued support and participation of our community,” AOPA President Camaro King said.

All profits from the Monster Mash Dash will be placed in the AOPA’s benevolence fund.

“This fund allows us to help families and different organizations throughout Covington County. Some of the ways we give back are through donations to South Central Mental Health Center, Community Christmas, Distinguished Young Women, Meredith’s Miracles, Cancer Freeze, miscellaneous sponsorships to other civic clubs, as well as benevolence requests for families in need in our community.”

Plans for next year’s event are in progress with a tentative date set for Saturday, Oct. 21, 2023. “Monster Mash Dash is not a small undertaking and takes a lot of preparation. Our members are already thinking of ways we can improve next year’s event,” she said.

King added that she is grateful to be a part of the annual event for several reasons.

“Monster Mash Dash is a fun event to help us raise funds. It also allows Andalusia Office Professionals Association members to get out in the community and get to know others. We meet people through outreach prior to the event and make new friends at the race every year. We want to emphasize how grateful we are for the support of the community. We appreciate that everyone continues to show up and dress up in his or her Halloween costumes. We had over 35 local sponsors that helped contribute to our success. We would like to extend a special thanks to Andalusia High School FCCLA, Sanders Sound, Empower Nutrition, Smash Mouth Foods, and Step One Automotive for coming out the day of the event and entertaining our participants.”
