The Annual Red Nose Reindeer 5K race will be held on Saturday, Dec. 3 to kick off this year’s fundraising effort for the Covington County United Fund, according to the organization’s President Courtney Hudson.

The race will start at CCB Community Bank at 8:30 a.m. on Dec. 3. Registration will be held for one hour prior to the race, or early registration is open now on the race site Active. com. Type the name of the race in the search bar at Active.com to register online.

Those runners who are regular runners, and who take their time seriously, will be pleased to know that the race will be electronically timed.

“This race allows all of our agencies to participate in the fundraising, and it gives local runners a chance to contribute to our member agencies while doing something that they love to do,” Hudson said.

Sponsorships from individuals and businesses are also needed to reach this year’s fundraising goal.

“The race has drawn folks from several states over the years” she stated. “It’s especially great to be a part of the Christmas in Candyland experience – the race route highlights Andalusia’s Candyland decorations, as the runners run down East Three Notch and around the square.”

Participation in this event provides support for youth sports, the arts, and services to the underprivileged of our communities and helps meet many other needs around Covington County.
