Abbie Chapman Henderson Taylor, 97 of Andalusia, went to be at home for eternity with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, Jan. 13, 2023.

She is preceded in death by her husband, James Marion Taylor II (Jimmy); her son, James Marion Taylor III (Jimbo); her father, Joseph Henry Henderson; her mother, Mary Lee Henderson; her sister, Lore Henderson Poundstone; her niece, Lore Poundstone Parks; and her son-in-law, Tony George Miller.

She is survived by her children; Cathy Taylor McDaniel (Ronnie), Merrily Taylor McCary (John), Abbie Taylor Madison (Richard), John Arnett Taylor (Kay); her seven grandchildren: Joshua Miller (Carly), Chapman Miller Blanton (Al), John Taylor Miller (Lauren), Luke Miller, John McCary (Virginia), James McCary (Amanda), Abbie McCary McGough (Dawson); 10 great-grandchildren: Joshua, Porter, Thomas, Julia, Taylor, Charlotte, Sissy, Abbie James, Henry, and James.

Abbie spent her early childhood in Andalusia, Alabama, and then moved to Montgomery, where she attended Sidney Lanier High School and Huntingdon College. In 1947, she married her childhood sweetheart, Jimmy Taylor, and remained married to Jimmy until his death in 2005. She loved being a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and lived in Andalusia for 76 years.

Abbie was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ and gave Bibles and books to many in order to share the gospel. She always had an open door for bible studies in her home and her prayer group that met faithfully for more than 30 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church and attended the Chapman-Hart Sunday school class.

We are eternally grateful for Southern Comfort In-Home Care and all the ladies who took wonderful loving care of our mother. We are also thankful for the excellent staff at DaySpring Hospice.

A graveside celebration will be held at Andalusia Memorial Cemetery, Andalusia, Alabama, on Friday, Jan. 20, at 1 p.m.
