True to its mission of “Service to All Mankind,” several members of the Kappa Pi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., collected and packed several boxes and bags of more than 100 non-perishable food items which were donated to the Andalusia Boarding House on South Cotton Street.

Project chair Cerecia Buchanan says the service project represents one of the organization’s international initiatives to Uplift the Local Community. Andalusia Boarding House is a temporary home for homeless or post-incarcerated individuals and their families. It is a second chance program to help individuals return to the community and assist with their reintegration and rehabilitation. Services are provided at no cost to the residents.

Colonel Teresa A. Townsend, Ret., of Enterprise is the president of the Kappa Pi Omega chapter, which currently has a membership of approximately 140 women, from Houston, Henry, Dale, Coffee, Covington, and Pike counties, who engage in programs of service that enhance the social, economic, and educational well-being of their local communities.
